Anna & Max's Groom's Dinner

Not only do wedding planners plan weddings, but we also plan the events surrounding the big day. So, when Style-Architects Weddings’ owner Rachelle Mazumdar’s son married Anna, who also plans weddings for Style-Architects Weddings, you can be sure that no detail was left to chance!

The idea started with Anna and Max wanting an intimate backyard BBQ with friends and family, instead of a large welcome dinner at a venue or restaurant. However, groom’s dinners are the perfect opportunity to have fun with your decor and to bring in some personal touches that maybe hit the wedding day cutting room floor. Given Max’s Eastern Indian heritage, we decided to go all out for the groom’s dinner with a more contemporary Indian fusion spin on the backyard BBQ.

A brightly colored floral installation and low tables layered with orchids and floating blooms were the focal point of the tent. Layered rugs and soft floor cushions added texture and comfort for guests. Spice-colored velvet linens and orange and eggplant paisley linens added a contemporary touch. Varying rich color throughout the tent added a fresh, vibrant feel to the decor. Contemporary, bhangra club fusion tunes added to the fresh, playful ambiance.

The inspired decor was accompanied by traditional Indian catering and a henna artist for the guests to experience. The catering was set up in stations for guests to be able to grab as they pleased and to keep with the casual backyard BBQ feel.

The couple and Max’s parents traveled to New York City to find the perfect outfits. In a traditional Eastern Indian wedding, the bride dresses in red (instead of white), so Anna opted for a reddish-pink lehenga with gold embroidery and Max, a cream-colored Kurta and matching scarf.

It was such a beautiful evening full of cultural significance, family warmth, and excitement - the perfect start to the perfect wedding weekend! So, our lesson to you is to have fun with your groom’s dinner, and if you are struggling to truly personalize the event, reach out to a professional like us!
