Alex & Luke // The Machine Shop

Alex and Luke’s story is the classic story of a hockey player meeting the figure skater. Though they both attended Shattuck, they actually met in Boston. Alex was there for an ice show and Luke for a hockey game. Though neither originates from Minnesota, they now call it home where Alex teaches power skating and Luke is an attorney. As a figure skater, Alex is all about the show but she wanted clean lines, contemporary style, and the only sparkle - in the ceiling in the lighting design. White, black, gray, and taupes were the colors of choice, but with rich velvet linens to warm the look and pops of contemporary black flatware. Minimalistic floral designs kept the look sophisticated and clean. The ceiling was beautiful and romantic. The lighting mixed fairy lighting curtains with edison bulbs which added an industrial feel but also a nice warmth that filled the space. The romantic floral curtain doubled as a ceremony backdrop and then was trimmed to frame the band during the reception. Alex and Luke's style created a beautifully sophisticated minimalistic event unlike anything seen at the Machine Shop before.
