At Style-Architects Weddings, we’ve planned and designed celebrations at some of the most iconic venues across Minneapolis, and The Beach Club continues to be one we come back to again and again. There’s just something about it, the combination of lakeside views, historic architecture, classic decor, and an easy, welcoming feel, that makes it a favorite for both our team and our clients.
Located along Bde Maka Ska, this venue offers a setting that feels distinctly Minneapolis in the best way. It’s scenic without feeling remote, elevated without feeling stuffy, and flexible enough to support a wide range of design styles.
Thinking about hosting your wedding here? Let’s walk through what it’s really like to plan a celebration at The Beach Club, and how to make the most of the space.
why we love working at the beach club
Beyond the obvious (the lake views are hard to beat), this venue is incredibly functional from a planning and design perspective, which, in our experience, makes all the difference on a wedding day.
A few standout features we always appreciate:
On-site catering through D’Amico Hospitality – This streamlines the planning process and ensures food is fresh (since it is literally finished on-site) and delicious.
A true indoor-outdoor experience – The expansive patio provides the perfect opportunity for cocktails overlooking the lake and an easy way for guests to cool off from dancing or catch up with friends in a quiet corner.
Valet parking and an easy location – Valet elevates the guest experience and is especially helpful for out-of-town attendees who may not know where to park.
A neutral yet well-designed interior – The classic interior offers a fully designed backdrop that doesn’t require much enhancement, but if you want to go all out, the neutral finishes offer flexibility without feeling like a blank box.
From a planner’s perspective, it’s a venue that’s not just beautiful, it’s practical. Load-ins are manageable, the flow makes sense, and the space naturally supports a well-paced, seamless event.
designing weddings at the beach club
One of The Beach Club's biggest strengths is its adaptability and great bones. And, you can’t go wrong with the white chiavari chairs!
The architecture leans classic, but the overall feel is light and open thanks to the large windows and soft color palette. That combination allows us to take design in many different directions.
We’ve seen (and created) everything from soft, neutral, romantic designs to more colorful celebrations that bring energy into the space. Because there aren’t any distracting or overly specific design elements to work around, you can build a look that feels personal without fighting the venue.

ceremony and reception spaces at the beach club
One of the reasons this venue works so well is the variety of spaces, all within close proximity. It allows for a natural progression throughout the day without requiring guests to travel or feel disconnected.
Here’s a closer look at the main areas:
the boulevard room
The Boulevard Room offers the perfect space for a ceremony, cocktail hour, late night party, or any celebration you could wish for. With large windows opening the space to natural light, a full mirror wall on one end, and a sweeping staircase on the other, it brings the perfect grandeur to any event. We especially like using the staircase for the bridal processional during the ceremony or for the grand entrance of the couple during cocktail hour. You may be concerned about tripping, but it’s never happened on our watch!
There is also a gorgeous black, baby grand piano in the space, so we recommend taking advantage by hiring a pianist for your ceremony or a jazz trio for your cocktail hour.
In the lofted space above the Boulevard Room sits the Library, which serves as the perfect winter cocktail space for an on-site ceremony, as well as the perfect rain plan if the weather prohibits use of the patio. As guests ascend the staircase to cocktails, they will notice that the spaces are similarly designed, creating a visually cohesive environment.

the solarium
The Solarium is the largest room at The Beach Club, with high ceilings and expansive windows that keep everything feeling open and connected to the outdoors. The mirrors on the opposite wall reflect natural light throughout the space. Right outside, you have direct access to the patio overlooking Bde Maka Ska, which naturally extends the space.
One feature we love working with is the dome band-shell stage. This slightly raised focal point of the room is perfect for a sweetheart table, DJ set-up, string quartet, cake or dessert display, or statement installation. The options are endless, so make use of the space. Doing nothing with the band-shell and leaving it bare would be a shame! It begs for attention.

the patio
The patio is truly where this venue shines. Positioned directly along the lake, it offers uninterrupted views and a refreshing, open-air experience your guests will remember long after the celebration ends. Guests can step outside for fresh air and lakeside views without ever feeling disconnected from the celebration inside.
It’s perfect for anything: a cocktail hour with signature drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres, sunset photos overlooking the water, or a relaxed lounge-style setup with soft seating and ambient lighting. The existing iron tables and chairs already feel complete, but you could also invest in intentional details that elevate the space, such as linens for the high tops to add color and softness.

getting ready suites
The getting-ready suites are comfortable, private, and easy to use throughout the day. The larger suite is massive, with hair and make-up stations throughout, and even a balcony, which is a nice bonus for first look photos and quieter moments before everything begins. The smaller suite still provides plenty of room to drop bags and hang out.

photo opportunities around the venue
One of the most convenient aspects of The Beach Club is how many photo locations are within walking distance.
Between the lake, the venue itself, and the park adjacent to Dean Parkway, you get a wide range of backdrops without needing to build extra time into your timeline for transportation off-site.
We typically guide couples toward:
First look at the staircase with one partner at the bottom watching the other’s descent
Family photos on the patio or, with especially large groups, at the staircase
Wedding party photos in the park
Lakeside portraits at golden hour
Mixing things up provides a lot of visual variety to your photo gallery.

the beach club wedding cost
For our clients hosting weddings at The Beach Club, we typically recommend starting budgets in the $60,000+ range, depending on guest count, overall priorities, design expectations, and overall experience.
why it works
At the end of the day, The Beach Club works because it strikes a balance that’s actually hard to find.
You get the lake. You get the city. You get a space that feels timeless but still flexible. And most importantly, you get a venue that supports both a beautiful design and a smooth, enjoyable guest experience.
If you’re envisioning a wedding that feels relaxed, scenic, and thoughtfully put together, this venue consistently delivers.
