Spring is in the air and that means wedding season is quickly approaching. Although country clubs typically attract golfers, the Interlachen Country Club of Edina has become quite popular for weddings and a variety of other social events as well. With a large ballroom overlooking the serene golf course and the high-vaulted ceilings with gorgeous rustic chandeliers, it is no surprise that clients are finding this place to be attractive for meetings, luncheons, fundraising events, holiday parties and of course wedding receptions! Style-Architects is always looking for new inspiration, so we sat down with one of Interlachen Country Club’s Catering Managers, Bridget Eckert, to find out her thoughts and experiences with events. What sets ICC apart from the other course and venues in town? Interlachen has a very rich and prestigious history. It is one of the oldest clubs in the city, opening in 1909. ICC was the home club of Patty Berg, founding member of the LPGA opening up the sport to women. The club has been featured on the national stage when it most recently hosted the 2008 U.S. Women’s Open, among other international tournaments.
How would you describe the style and the ambiance of the club? It is intimate yet majestic. The beautiful architecture and warm, inviting areas provide options for a variety of events from intimate affairs to weddings and other social events and fundraisers. The ballroom has a classic elegance appeal, with the gorgeous dark wood details, the bright airy ballroom opens up to the stunning course.
What is your favorite part of working with clients and planners? Our favorite part of working with brides and other clients is the tour. The moment that we open the Ballroom doors and unveil the space, you feel their excitement while they stand their speechless. It is such a thrilling moment for us, showing them the simplistic beauty of the room and how it offers a lovely blank canvas for orchestrating their own celebration.
What makes ICC such an attractive venue for weddings and other special occasions? Truly, one of the most outstanding features is the view of the golf course in the Ballroom. The rolling hills and greens serve as the perfect backdrop for any special event, any time of the year. The stature of the room gives each event a feeling of grandeur, without overpowering the guests. The architectural detail compliments even the simplest of weddings in a refined, sophisticated manner and has the strength to present itself among elaborate and detailed design stories.
